Drum Fest Promotes Gender Equality in Music

On March 5, Drum Fest will take place in Mexico City, featuring 15 women drummers from Mexico and Argentina, advocating for gender equality and mental health awareness.

The project "Ella Suena" aims to promote a better society in Mexico and other countries through conferences, workshops, meetings, concerts, and instrument raffles. A central figure in this project is drummer Cintia Concia, who founded the group with this premise.

During the year 2024, "Ella Suena" offered more than 150 conferences to girls, boys, and young people in 50 cities and 18 states of Mexico, including Mérida, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Ciudad Juárez, Sonora, Nayarit, Tijuana, and Torreón. Cintia Concia, through her talent as a drummer, adapts her approach in each presentation, addressing specific issues and promoting gender equality, addiction prevention, and violence.

The members of "Ella Suena," from six states of Mexico, will perform with eight acoustic drums to highlight the role of music as a tool for social transformation. The project seeks to showcase female talent in the music industry and support legislative changes for greater representation of women in entertainment.

In its activities, "Ella Suena" promotes a culture of peace, mental health, the eradication of bullying, and counters negative feelings in girls and boys. The project aims to promote gender equality, peace, and prevent violence, addictions, and teenage pregnancies.

As a civil association and authorized donor, "Ella Suena" receives support from various individuals and institutions to finance conferences and logistics. Furthermore, support from institutions like Yamaha de México is essential in providing instruments and audio equipment for highlighted participants in specific dynamics.

To promote gender equity in music, the "Drum Fest" will take place in the Senate of the Republic, where 15 women drummers from Mexico and Argentina will raise their voices for gender equality. This event, organized by "Ella Suena" in collaboration with Volver a Soñar, will feature various representatives, including Cintia Concia and Simey Olvera, the host Senator.
